JBH XR is a VR experience built for JB Hunter Training using Unity for the Pico Neo 2. It integrates with the Snobal Cloud platform to authenticate users, deliver content updates and report assessment results. The assessments are fully voiced by integrating text-to-speech services from both Google and AWS.

The piece contains five certificate assessment modules for Electrical Supply Industry (ESI) environments which are conducted in virtual reality. Initially developed on the Oculus Quest headset, the final delivery of the experience was built for the Pico Neo 2 headset.
Courses developed included:
- Burn and wound first aid
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Infant cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Pole top rescue
- Low voltage rescue
I was responsible for content development in Unity of each of the VR training modules. These courses are based on existing certified courses, as such, the project involved closely liaising with the client and the UX team to find solutions to recreate certificate requirements in VR.
These requirements typically involved recreating tasks that the user traditionally demonstrates in “in-person” assessments. This meant developing complex interactions for different tools and equipment and mapping them to VR control schemes. These VR tools had to be immediately familiar and intuitive for users without virtual reality or gaming experience whilst also enabling them to properly demonstrate assessment tasks.

An unexpected challenge during development was that the target VR headset intended for final delivery was changed from the Oculus Quest to the Pico Neo 2. Both devices had different software development kits, input schemes and hardware specifications. To rectify this, I built systems to allow support for both devices for the duration of development, flexibly changing graphical, tracking and input needs depending on the device used.
